Max has been asking why every year we try to make gifts for people. We talked about all the obvious reasons and he told me how much he likes to make things for people. He asked if I made things when I was his age and I explained to him that from time to time I had made things, but the idea for our family making gifts really was the from Grandpa Bob and he started to make us things the year before he died. I pulled out the sports memory box and stuff Dad had made me his last Christmas. I explained how having such a special gift makes you feel connected to the maker and also when you make something like that you can be sharing your love with the person you are making it for. He quickly chose to make something for his cousin Zella, who we don't get to see that much. He is very excited to see her in a few days and is hoping to do all sorts of fun things while in Seattle with her and the rest of our family.
He finished the tote bag he made for her and we are packing it up for the trip.
